about

Bad Press about Blogurt from the Washington Post about the album you are about to purchase:

BLOGURT'S 'EAT': PARTLY INDIGESTIBLE By Mark Jenkins
"My love for you is like a canker sore," announces Blogurt singer, guitarist and lyricist Dave Macarchik (sic), which is the sort of line that will likely rebound against the band.

Among the less digestible tunes on "Eat" are the inexplicable "Trip Tro Tru da Trulips" and "In a Drum," a classical arrangement of "Working in the Coal Mine" that mutates into some sort of reggae number. Still, bassist Dave Chief Rubin gives "Drum" and the other reggae- and funk-spiced tracks a credible swing, and bassoonist Aimee Defoe's vocal harmonies are a treat, especially "Grover's a Puppet." That song, which alleges that Grover the Muppet is a leftist, is pretty darn cute too, but it also demonstrates that Blogurt can be catchy enough to overwhelm its own sense of humor.

Blogurt Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Blogurt was an indie band that was not cool before it was cool to be not cool. This rock could pull some things." ... more
